{design & decor} vintage bar cart!

Oh hello there.  I’m still here!  And still working on stuff at the house…sorry for the lack of posts of late.  :)

Last week I took a load of stuff to give away (yay for purging and simplifying!), and decided to stop in a little antique shop on the way back, just to see what they had.  I spied a pair of awesome barrister bookshelves (though we have neither the space nor the cash for them), some chairs that would be awesome if reupholstered, and this fun bar cart:

bar cart hidden under a bunch of stuff

Under all that crystal, I saw a gem!  $72.50 later, it was sitting in my house.  I’m still not quite sure where it will go, but thought it would be perfect as a side table or perhaps a little entry table…and a great place to display Husband’s decanters of scotch.

now nicely dusted

I’ve been thinking of putting a little table of some sort right here at the end of the pantry (what you see right when you walk in the front door), so this might just do!

lots of space for lots of liquor

So get this…I get home and decide to hop on 1stdibs.com to see if what I have is anything special.  I type “brass bamboo bar cart”…

fun bamboo detailing

…and a few pages in I see my bar cart’s twin…

almost identical!

The only difference is that the listing’s bar cart shows antique mirrored glass, versus the smoky glass in mine.  I kind of get the feeling that my smoky glass is original since the bar cart is from the 1960s; I don’t really picture antiqued mirror going on a bar cart of this style from that period…ALTHOUGH I much prefer the antiqued mirror (trade maybe?! :) ).

But guess the best part: the price…

yes, that says $1200 people

So even if mine’s worth HALF this listing price, I think I scored myself a deal.  :)

Found any awesome thrift/antique store treasures lately???

what an AWESOME find!
I rather agree, I like the mirrored glass better than the smoked too.

Great Bar Cart! Just 5 minutes ago I was telling someone, “You don’t see cocktail tables in anybody’s home anymore.”

Bring the Cocktail table back, with this great find.

Love this! I have been searching everywhere for a bar cart. It looks like I’ll have to stop in on some antique shops this weekend.
