I am SO excited to show you our kitchen cabinets! We had them sprayed for durability and smoothness…and they’re lookin’ mighty fine if I do say so myself!
They did the spraying two days in a row…
Ready to see the cabinets all painted?! Ta da!!!
Here is the peninsula island…the sink will be in the middle and the dishwasher in the open spot:
Opposite the peninsula island is the oven wall. Check out the range hood and all that crazy stacked moulding!
Here’s the fridge/microwave/pantry wall. The fridge opening might look small, but that’s just because of the scale of things…to the top of the stacked moulding is like 8′! I’m going to get some cute woven baskets to put in the open shelving (I saw some at Tar-jay on Sunday that might work), cookbooks on the left, and then the microwave on the right. They installed some of the same 1-1/2″ cypress wood as the master bathroom vanity here on the counter, which we’ll oil like a butcherblock. I think this little counter will be our small appliance center/coffee nook. The left hand massivo cabinet is a pantry – I will have a bit of a challenge figuring out how to organize the inside, but better to have too much storage than too little!
And here’s a view into the living room (where I just installed the fan!):
And finally here’s a shot of the whole kitchen (less counter tops and appliances and hardware…details!)…
I can’t wait to get all the other pieces in!!!
***Forgot to add, the cabinetry is painted in Benjamin Moore’s White Dove.

I love, love, LOVE how everything is shaping up. It’s beautiful! : )
Now THIS is the update I’ve been waiting for! It’s so beautiful! I love love love it! You guys must be so pleased.
Are you going stainless appliances? And why type of fridge did you choose (or are you going to choose)?
Can’t wait to see it with the counters and appliances! YaHOO!
Thanks Kara! Yes, we love how it has turned out. Our carpenters did an amazing job – they are awesome!
We’re going all stainless. We definitely went low-end in terms of appliances. The fridge is just a basic freezer on top model; I would have a loved a bottom freezer with french door upper, but that catapults the price into a new stratosphere! We shopped around and found the least expensive but best rated appliances (according to Consumer Reports), and think they’ll all be great. I’m super pumped for the gas range – again, low end, but still stainless and gas! We figure that someone else down the road can upgrade the appliances to fancier models – we’re done spending money!
AMAZING! The moldings are insane. I can’t wait to see all the details filled in.
WOW! GORGEOUS! It’s looking so so amazing. Your floors look awesome next to the bright white cabinets too.
It looks BEAUTIFUL, Leila!!! I absolutely love all the moulding. Can’t wait to see it with the counters and appliances!

oh, man, is it looking good!!! The sparkly old floors, the cabinets that look like furniture….can’t wait to see it in person…!!!
Hell yea, another white kitchen in the world! May I ask, what were the deciding factors in having them professionally sprayed? Is it quite difficult (or a massive hassle?) to do it properly yourself? Thanks!
Hi Lauren – Yay for white kitchens! Yours is a great question. For us, the decision to have our cabinets professionally sprayed came down to: (1) time, and (2) look/feel. With both of us having full-time jobs, and with us needing to get out of our temporary apartment, we wanted to get it done well and get it done quickly. I know there are plenty of tutorials out there on how to paint your own cabinetry, but there is something to be said for the finish a sprayer provides…it’s even, doesn’t show brush or roller marks, and it creates a really beautiful, smooth finish. From what I hear, it’s kind of pain to do it yourself, but if you have several days you can dedicate to the multiple coats and have the patience to get it done, by all means, do it! I think you can actually rent a paint sprayer, but there might be a bit of a learning curve. Hope that helps!
I am in LOVE! Can you come to my house and work your magic???? Love the bead board detail & all that amazing trim… hmm… Just might repaint my cabinets one day =). I can’t wait to see those amazing marble counter tops installed. Ahhhh… I think you have officially created a swoon worthy kitchen =). I just might have to get myself on a plane and see it in person =).
Leila, I love the way the floors turned out! Can’t wait to see how they turned out in the rest of the house. I agree with all the other comments. This kitchen is amazing. The details really take it to the next level! From experience, I can tell you you can never have enough storage, especially in the kitchen;) Thanks for the update!
